Citizens of third countries who work remotely as employees, self-employed or freelancers (i.e. people who work using IT) are eligible for the Digital Nomad Visa and Permit in Greece.
This type of permit does not provide access to the employment market or an opportunity to run a business registered in Greece. Spouses and children are benefited from the permit of the main applicant (as long as they apply for one permit each as family members). The income thresholds are 3,500 EUR per month for the main applicant increased by 20% for the spouse and 15% for each dependent child. Pursuant to Law 5038/2023, a digital nomad can apply for either a two year residence permit or alternatively apply for a digital nomad residence permit while in Greece as a tourist, permit being based on a tourist visa. This is conditioned on the existence of a property lease agreement or a property purchase contract in Greece ( pursuant to Article 12 par. 7 of Law 5038/2023). |
